Un hôtel rue Teulère et autres biens des familles Estienne et Bouquier (1742-1869)
L’immeuble, situé 12 rueTeulère, fut construit par Louis Joseph Estienne (1707-1717), procureur au parlement de Bordeaux puis titulaire d’une charge de secrétaire du Roi, conseiller près le parlement de Grenoble. Ses descendants, puis une famille de parlement alliée, les Bouquier, l'occupèrent jusqu’à la fin du Second Empire. La taille imposante de cette construction et les nombreux biens de campagne acquis dans le vignoble (Cenon, Léognan, Portets) attestent la réussite matérielle de cette famille.
La bâtisse, que nous voyons aujourd'hui a été édifiée vers 1770 à la place d’une maison plus ancienne. Une façade imposante se développe sur cinq travées et quatre niveaux. Un balcon sur trompe, encadré par deux balcons arrondis dessert les trois travées centrales. Le décor d'agrafes et de consoles, mêlant les styles rocailles et Louis-XVI est d'une facture lourde mais les fers forgés sont de qualité.

The building located at number 12 in the rue Teulère was built by Louis Joseph Estienne (1707-17077), who was a procurator at the parliament of Bordeaux and then as well as being a Royal Secretary, he was a counsellor to the parliament in Grenoble. His descendants and then another family of parliamentarians linked by marriage, the Bouquiers, lived there until the end of the Second Empire. The massive size of the construction and the many properties bought in the vineyards (Cenon, Léognan, Portets) testify to the material success of this family.
The present construction was built around 1770 in place of an older house. The imposing façade runs along five bays over four floors. The three main bays open on to a balcony on corbel supports flanked by two other, curved balconies. The decoration of scrolled keystones and scallop-shell bosses mixing the rococo and Louis XVI styles, is rather cumbersome but the wrought ironwork is of high quality.
