L’architecture domestique élitaire de la petite ville de Blaye à la fin de l’Ancien Régime est méconnue. La réalisation d’une opération d’inventaire du patrimoine ces dernières années a cependant permis de déterminer un corpus d’une poignée d’immeubles pouvant relever de la catégorie des demeures patriciennes. En l’état actuel des connaissances, l’enquête révèle une société blayaise dominée par la bourgeoisie marchande insérée dans le négoce bordelais, dont l’habitat se démarque dans la trame bâtie par l’affirmation architecturale des emblèmes de sa prospérité

The elite domestic architecture of the small town of Blaye at the end of the Ancien Régime is little known. However the carrying out of a heritage inventory operation in recent years has made it possible to determine a corpus of a handful of buildings that may fall into the category of patrician residences. In the current state of knowledge, the survey reveals a Blayais society dominated by the merchant bourgeoisie inserted in the Bordeaux trade, whose habitat stands out in the built fabric by the architectural affirmation of the emblems of its prosperity.
