Le site antique de Barre à Arveyres (Gironde)
Le site de Barre à Arveyres n’a pu faire l’objet que d’une prospection et d’un ramassage du mobilier suite à un labour profond. Le matériel récupéré (céramiques, objets métalliques, ossements humains) montre une occupation du lieu depuis le premier siècle après Jésus-Christ jusqu’au VIIIe. C’est principalement la céramique qui permet cette datation. Le site a servi d’habitat avec probablement un ou plusieurs bâtiments avant de devenir une nécropole dans l’Antiquité tardive. Après une phase d’abandon au début du Moyen Âge, une nouvelle occupation se met en place à partir du XIVe siècle qui perdure jusqu’à nos jours avec l’implantation d’une maison noble à l’époque moderne qui a donné son nom au lieu.
The Ancient Site of Barre in Arveyres (Gironde)
The Barre site in Arveyres could only be the subject of the search and collection of articles following deep plowing. The material recovered (ceramics, metal objects, human bones) shows an occupation of the site from the 1st century A.D. until the 8th century. It is mainly ceramics that allows this dating. The site served as a habitat with probably one or more buildings before it became a necropolis in late Antiquity. After a phase of abandonment at the beginning of the Middle Ages, a new occupation was established in the 14th century that continues to this day with the establishment of a noble house in the modern era which gave its name to the place.
