Même si l'accent a été mis sur les ordres nouveaux, les vieilles familles religieuses ont participé à l'œuvre de la Réforme catholique dans le diocèse de Bordeaux. Après une réforme interne imposée de l'extérieur, le couvent des Dominicains de Bordeaux joua un rôle spirituel important autour de ses dévotions traditionnelles comme le Rosaire. En 1634, la confrérie du même nom fit édifier dans sa chapelle un nouveau retable qui disparut avec la destruction du couvent médiéval lors des travaux d'extension du château Trompette au cours des années 1680.

The art and spirituality of the Bordeaux Dominicans in the Grand Siècle (17th c.)
Even though the emphasis was put on the new religious orders, the old orders also took part in the Catholic Reformation in the
diocese of Bordeaux. After an internal reform imposed from outside the convent of the Dominicans in Bordeaux played an important spiritual role around its traditional devotions such as the Rosary. In 1634, the brotherhood of the Dominicans had a new altarpiece built in its chapel, which disappeared when the medieval convent was destroyed during the construction work to extend the Château Trompette in the 1680s.
